Winexy is an indie and casual 3D platform-puzzler where you guide a ball through mazes to find their exits while avoiding traps. It was developed by Entertainment Forge and initially released on December 1, 2017.

Published by GrabTheGames and available for Windows, Winexy has hundreds of neutral reviews on Steam, at least so far. Regardless, the game seems to be recommended for short, light and relaxing games.

Gameplay

Winexy is a game with a feel that is probably inspired by the NES port of Marble Madness, but it expands the original concept with modern graphics, more varied puzzles, and advanced physics. The player controls a ball through mazes with a top-down perspective and 3D puzzles, facing challenges such as falls, moving obstacles, and mechanisms that activate doors or other interactive elements. The goal is to find the exit while avoiding traps such as black holes.

The ball can change texture and material (e.g. wood, metal), altering its physical properties to solve certain puzzles. For example, wood can catch fire, while metal is heavier. These transformations affect the interaction with the environment.

The game’s physics are described as realistic, requiring precision in movements to avoid falls or collisions. There are also dark mazes that increase the challenge factor with limited visibility. There are checkpoints, but they are limited, which adds difficulty, as mistakes can make you have to restart long sections.

It’s worth noting that while it has a good variety of challenging elements, Winexy isn’t meant to be stressful, featuring relaxing music and a laid-back atmosphere, making it quite suitable for a few light, relaxed games. That said, there are also levels designed for speedrunning for those looking for more competitive action, etc.

About the game

Winexy is a realistic 3D rolling ball game with simple gameplay and fun action. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to throw several types of balls, all with different physics, skins, and abilities. All the balls are made of different materials, and you will need to take this into account in some situations. If you throw a metal ball and it passes through the flame, it will have no effect. But if you catch the wooden ball, it will burn and can ignite other things in the level. The game is divided into several locations that are very different from each other. The difference is not only in the weather and the colors of the textures, but in the type of level structure. We have classic speedrun levels, maze levels, and levels with some types of puzzles.
