Escape Academy is a first-person puzzle game with adventure elements where the player is recruited by a fictional academy to solve escape room-style challenges in various scenarios. It was developed by Coin Crew Games and initially released on June 14, 2022.

Published by iam8bit Presents, it is available for Windows, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. Escape Academy was generally well-received by critics and is highly rated on PC gaming platforms where it is available.

Gameplay

Escape Academy focuses on escape room-style challenges, where players assume the role of a student recruited by an academy specializing in training puzzle-solving skills. The main objective is to complete a series of puzzle-based challenges to advance in the story. The game combines stylized graphics with visual novel elements during dialogues.

Each stage features a scenario with specific goals, such as: escaping a room before time runs out, solving puzzles to defuse a bomb or find an antidote, or completing non-escape-related tasks, like preparing a perfect milkshake. The settings range from locked rooms to interactive areas and dynamic situations, such as a room filling with water.

The challenges require logic, observation, and interpreting clues. Some puzzles demand out-of-the-box thinking, while others follow more straightforward patterns. After each stage, players receive a grade ranging from “A+” to lower marks, depending on the time taken to complete the challenges. A hint system is also available to assist during difficult moments. Environmental elements can be examined, manipulated, or combined to solve puzzles.

Players can revisit completed stages to improve their grades or explore additional mechanics. The player’s personal room evolves throughout the game, receiving decorative items acquired during the campaign. The soundtrack and sound effects complement the puzzles, aiding in identifying progress or providing subtle hints.

• Cooperative – The game supports local and online co-op, allowing two players to work together to solve puzzles. Players can switch between split-screen or a shared screen view.
