The challenging retro and reductive platformer LOVE is free for Windows in a time-limited Epic Store’s giveaway offer! Go get it! LOVE can normally cost US$2.99!
LOVE is a difficult independent platform game that features a minimalist pixel art style that recalls titles of the genre from the early 80s and has a gimmick where the player can deploy checkpoints when desired. It was developed by Fred Wood and initially released in May 2008.
Published by Fred Wood himself and available for Windows, Mac, Linux, Switch, Ouya, Android, GameStick, iOS, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, LOVE was generally well received by critics. On Steam, at least so far, it has hundreds of very positive reviews.
On February 7, 2014, the game was re-released in an improved version called Love+. On November 7, 2017, a sequel titled LOVE 2: kuso was released, which includes all sixteen main levels from Love+. A third entry in the series, LOVE 3, was released on December 7, 2021 and includes all levels from its predecessors. In 2014, the level editor was incorporated into the version previously known as Love+, which in turn reverted to the game’s original name, LOVE.
