The Battle of Polytopia is an indie 4X turn-based strategy game with streamlined mechanics, set in a fantasy world with a blocky visual style, though featuring some elements inspired by real life, and procedurally generated maps. It was developed by Midjiwan AB and originally released in February 2016.

Players take command of one of several tribes, each with its own unique advantage, and must expand their empire by exploring, building cities, researching technologies, and facing rival factions. Victory can be achieved either by scoring the most points or by conquering the entire world, and the game offers both single-player campaigns and multiplayer support (online and offline).

Published by Midjiwan AB itself and available for Android, iOS, Windows, macOS, Linux, and Switch, The Battle of Polytopia received mixed reviews from critics. On Steam, however, it has gathered thousands of “very positive” user reviews — at least up to the time of this writing.
