Songs of Silence is an independent 4X strategy game that combines real-time battles, exploration, empire management, and card-influenced tactical combat in a medieval fantasy world inspired by art nouveau aesthetics. It was developed by Chimera Entertainment and first released on June 4, 2024.

The game features three main modes — a narrative campaign, random skirmishes, and standalone scenarios — and is set in a universe divided between light, darkness, and silence. Players command heroes and armies belonging to three distinct factions, each with its own playstyle, units, and unique abilities, reflecting different philosophies and forces within the story’s central conflict.

Published by Daedalic Entertainment, Songs of Silence is available for Windows, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. Songs of Silence blends 4X strategy and real-time combat, with gameplay divided into two main layers: the strategic map — where players explore territory, manage resources, and expand their domain — and the tactical battles, where armies clash automatically but can be directly influenced through the use of cards.

The deck represents the available actions and abilities, which vary depending on the hero, faction, and choices made throughout the campaign. Each card can change the course of a battle by granting temporary bonuses, summoning units, or applying area effects, adding both planning and unpredictability to combat. The game also features a Fates system — rule modifiers that alter victory conditions, weather, and events during matches.

The three playable factions — Light, Darkness, and Silence — each offer distinctive gameplay styles, exclusive units, and special abilities that reflect their philosophies and origins within the game’s lore. Progression involves developing cities, recruiting troops, and conquering strategic regions while balancing the game’s narrative and tactical elements.

The game supports solo, cooperative, and competitive play across three main modes — the narrative campaign, randomized skirmishes, and standalone scenarios — with both procedurally generated and handcrafted maps, allowing for quick sessions or custom challenges. The main campaign is fully voice-acted and includes narrative cutscenes that expand the universe and its characters.

The interface combines overworld and contextual menus, displaying unit, territory, and resource information in an integrated manner. Icons and visual indicators assist in reading the battlefield and selecting cards, facilitating control of both real-time actions and turn-based strategic decisions.
