Gameplay

Rugrats: Adventures in Gameland is a 2D platformer that combines 8-bit style graphics with a modern HD option. The game takes place across five areas of the Pickles’ house, where players must collect Reptar coins to unlock the final dungeon.

You can choose from four playable characters – Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, and Lil – each with unique abilities like Chuckie’s kicking jump or Lil’s floating ability. Gameplay involves jumping on enemies, picking up and throwing blocks, and crawling under obstacles.

Levels feature boss battles, unlocked by finding screwdrivers. The game offers a local co-op mode for two players and allows swapping between characters to tackle specific challenges.

Despite its silly/cartoonish graphics and soundtrack, the game can present typical NES challenges, such as respawning enemies and tricky platforming sections. Level design may feel monotonous at times.
