Just Shut Up & Drive is an indie 3D racing game heavily inspired by the classic Out Run, combining a retrowave vibe and very pleasant pixel art graphics with fluid arcade-style gameplay. It was developed by Mushy Jukebox (umutdervis) and initially released in 2010.
The game was originally published for browsers (Flash) and quickly gained popularity, accumulating an impressive 71 million views in just four years. I recently discovered that there’s also a refined and rebalanced downloadable version for Windows, which is also available for free.
With its retro feel, stylized visuals, and references to genre classics, Just Shut Up & Drive promises an intense experience—and it definitely delivers. It’s a game with smooth, engaging controls that’s well worth a try. In fact, just shut up, step on the gas, drive, and have fun!

In the role of a driver in a blue sports car, seen from a third-person perspective (view from behind the car), the goal is simple: accelerate as fast as possible towards the horizon, overtaking your rivals and completing the course before time runs out. The game features 10 unique tracks, each with challenges that require speed and precision. Beyond just finishing the race, you can also earn bonus points by overtaking other vehicles in risky maneuvers and/or maintaining a high speed.
