Exolon – The Continuing Adventures is a free Windows platformer where the player take control of a science-fiction soldier navigating a large set of interconnected fixed screens — 125 in total — filled with alien enemies, environmental hazards, and deadly traps.
Created by Space-Time Games, this fixed-screen sci-fi platformer works as a fan remake and sequel to the ZX Spectrum classic Exolon (1987), from Hewson. the game brings the spirit of the original into a modern PC environment while keeping its old-school soul firmly intact. Combat revolves around firearms, grenades, and limited ammunition, making resource management an important part of survival. In addition to enemy fire and homing missiles, players must contend with land mines, projectiles launched from the scenery, and areas that can cause instant death, all of which demand precise movement and careful timing.
The game stays very close to the structure of the original Exolon in its early stages, gradually introducing more variation in later levels. Power-ups such as extra lives and special suits — including ones that grant temporary invulnerability to certain hazards — further reinforce the connection to the 1987 game. Controls support both keyboard and joystick, and while internal cheats like invincibility and infinite ammo exist, they are intended for playtesting and demonstration rather than regular gameplay.
While still an old-school-inspired title, Exolon – The Continuing Adventures features more advanced graphics and overall resources than the original Speccy’s game, but with a crisp pixel art that leans more toward late-1980s DOS aesthetics and a memorable soundtrack. We can safely say that this is respectful homage and a solid free-to-play experience for fans of classic fixed-screen action. Best of all, it’s completely free for Windows, making it an easy recommendation for anyone with a soft spot for retro-inspired platformers.

About the game
Intelligence agents informed the “Earth Council” of an alien race planning to attack and destroy the Earth. Vitorc had the reputation of being a bit of a badass, so it was he who was commissioned for the job – To rid the alien planet of all the scum and save the Earth from certain doom.
Vitorc blasted his way thru 125 screens of alien slime. Its what his job was and its what he did best. He succeeded and promptly flew home…
The “Earth Council” thanked him for his efforts but wouldn’t allow him to land on Earth – EVER – because of possible alien contamination.
Dejected and bemused Vitorc returned to the dreaded planet only to find that the aliens had rebuilt their cities and were preparing an army for the destruction of earth once more. Even though Earth shunned him after saving them once, Vitorc, the true hero, decided he must save the planet once again. Anyway, those damn aliens had his ship in a magnetic tractor beam powered by a huge reactor so he had to do the dirty deed !!
Kill the baddies, blow the reactor and get off this damned planet…
