Caveman World: Mountains of Unga Boonga is a 2D platform game focused on exploration and item collection. In each stage, the player must traverse the environment, collect fruits and other objects scattered throughout the map, and reach the exit point to progress.

Gameplay is primarily based on movement, jumping, and interaction with the environment. The game features a simple physics system that allows players to push objects, such as logs, in order to overcome obstacles or reach elevated areas. Although the game indicates the presence of an attack command, there is no functional combat; enemies and hazards act only as environmental obstacles, though this behavior may have been observed in an earlier version of the title.
