Cave Story+ is an enhanced version of Cave Story, a metroidvania-style adventure and platform game developed by Daisuke “Pixel” Amaya in his spare time. It features a retro style, pixel art graphics, and 2D mechanics typical of this genre and was originally released on December 20, 2004, for Windows.
The game was very well received by critics, who praised many aspects of the game. Cave Story+ was published by Nicalis on Steam in November 2011, where, at least so far, it has thousands of very positive reviews. The original Cave Story is a freeware and can still be downloaded, by the way.
