Zero Hour is an independent first-person shooter set across various fictional locations inspired by Bangladesh, focusing on realistic, tactical combat in confined spaces. It was developed by Attrito M7 Productions and released on September 9, 2024.

The title offers two main game modes: Co-op, which allows players to play solo or with friends against AI-controlled enemies while completing mission objectives; and PvP, which pits players against each other in modes such as Team Deathmatch and Bomb Defusal, similar to Rainbow Six. A distinctive feature is the inclusion of allied AI companions in solo mode.

Gameplay

Zero Hour is a tactical FPS focused on close-quarters combat, realism, and a controlled pace, requiring tactical planning and efficient communication for successful operations. The game takes place in various fictional locations inspired by the developers’ home country and, as mentioned, can be played in cooperative (Co-op) or player-versus-player (PvP) modes, with emphasis on planning, coordination, and tactical execution.

In Co-op mode, the player can operate alone or with a team to complete specific objectives against AI-controlled enemies. Allied AI companions can accompany the player, assisting during missions and becoming controllable if the main player is eliminated. Missions feature rules of engagement, penalizing actions such as friendly fire, executing surrendering enemies, or injuring hostages. The final score determines mission progress and the unlocking of new operations.

PvP mode pits two teams of five players against each other in modes that include bomb defusal, hostage rescue, and deathmatch. Before each round, players can access a planning table that displays the map layout, floors, and objectives, allowing them to plan routes and strategies. Elements such as electrical breakers can be used to shut off power in buildings, creating blackouts that benefit attackers equipped with night vision.

Gameplay is characterized by a slow, methodical approach, prioritizing team coordination, precision, and tactical use of resources. Doors can be opened, breached, or destroyed using different tools such as battering rams and C2 explosives. The game also introduces a K9 companion system, in which players can bring a trained dog into cooperative missions capable of detecting or incapacitating enemies.

The title features more than 18 maps and 23 weapons, including rifles, submachine guns, shotguns, and pistols. Weapons are highly customizable, allowing players to attach sights, flashlights, lasers, and foregrips. Ammunition management is manual, including checking and repacking magazines. In addition, cosmetic items can be purchased using an in-game currency (BDT) earned through matches.

The K9 Attack Dog feature brings an immersive and emotional experience to your missions. As the game starts, you’re assigned as a dog handler, initiating your journey with a small, nameable puppy. Initially resting in a cage, the puppy soon becomes interactive and starts playing around, following the player through the training facility. After successfully completing three missions, the canine companion becomes available for mission deployment.
