Stasis is a science-fiction horror isometric point-and-click adventure that involves interacting with computer terminals, combining items, and solving puzzles. It was developed by The Brotherhood and originally released on August 31, 2015.
In the game, the protagonist awakens from stasis aboard an abandoned spacecraft and must unravel its mysteries to find his missing wife and daughter — all before the vessel sinks deeper into Neptune’s methane clouds. For these reasons, the adventure is often compared to the excellent film Event Horizon (a blend of Hellraiser and Doom) and the psychological horror game Sanitarium.
Published by The Brotherhood itself (originally in partnership with Daedalic Entertainment) and released for Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, Stasis was generally well-received by critics. In January 2017, Cayne, a free prequel, was released. Later, in May 2023, the sequel Stasis: Bone Totem came out.

Gameplay
Stasis is a science-fiction point-and-click isometric adventure that blends exploration, environmental puzzles, and atmospheric horror. The story follows John Maracheck, who awakens from a state of deep stasis aboard the Groomlake, a massive research vessel that appears abandoned and is slowly descending into Neptune’s methane clouds. With most of the crew missing or reduced to grotesque remains — and his wife and daughter also unaccounted for — John must uncover the station’s secrets to survive and find his family.
The gameplay follows the classic point-and-click formula, allowing players to inspect environments, operate terminals, and interact with objects. Progress depends on careful exploration, inventory management, and puzzle-solving that often requires combining items, bypassing security systems, repairing machinery, or improvising tools to access new areas of the ship. The game makes heavy use of PDAs, diaries, medical reports, and logs scattered throughout the environment, which serve not only as lore elements but also as subtle hints for more complex puzzles.
Unlike action-oriented titles, Stasis emphasizes the protagonist’s physical vulnerability: there is no combat, and incorrect actions can lead to sudden, graphic death scenes that reinforce the constant sense of danger. The narrative relies heavily on environmental storytelling—blood-streaked hallways, experimental labs, and damaged machinery—enriching the mystery of the Groomlake without resorting to direct exposition.
