Snowball! is an indie pinball game with a winter and Christmas theme, featuring nostalgic pixel art graphics that aim to imitate the 16-bit style. It was developed by Pixeljam and originally released on December 17, 2012.

Published by Pixeljam itself and available for Macintosh, Windows, iOS, and Android, Snowball! has received dozens of very positive reviews on Steam, at least up until now.

Gameplay

During Snowball‘s gameplay, the player experiences a typical pinball game, but with a unique twist. The game is full of interesting physics, such as the interaction of snowballs with the environment, which seems to be influenced by its own gravity system.

The difficulty is heightened by elements like the “nudge” (pushing the ball), which causes the player to lose points if used, creating an interesting dynamic to control the ball without compromising the score. Additionally, Snowball! contains moments of both frustration and fun simultaneously, with the player trying to solve puzzles and achieve objectives within the scenario.

The visual aesthetics, with its pixelated art and effects like smoke, bring nostalgia for the good old days of classic pinball machines. However, the game’s performance may be affected by lag issues, especially when many objects are in motion in the environment. Overall, Snowball! offers a simple yet challenging pinball gameplay experience with an indie and fun vibe.

About the game

Snowball is a winter-themed pinball adventure brought to you by Pixeljam, the same creators of Dino Run.

Send the giant snowball through an epic dungeon—a handcrafted maze with sleds, snowbanks, wooden shovels, Tesla coils (not those from Red Alert, I believe), igloos, carts, and much more.

Made for both casual players and hardcore pinball fans!
