Skillshot City is a top-down shooter that combines elements of battle royale, arcade action, and progression systems inspired by roguelites, GTA 2 and MOBAs.

Developed by Ben Johnson and published by Nik Nak Studios, Skillshot City is a fully free-to-play indie title that was originally released under the name Geneshift in 2014. Over the years, it has gone through several updates and improvements before adopting its current name. The game’s core proposal is to offer fast-paced, dynamic matches filled with tactical possibilities based on the combination of unlockable skills.

The game also embraces an old-school feel, with precise controls and a gameplay experience focused on quick reflexes and smart decision-making. Gameplay

In Skillshot City, a game inspired by Grand Theft Auto 2, players battle enemies across a chaotic urban environment, complete missions, and level up to unlock new skills. At each level-up, players choose between two randomly generated skills, resulting in unique builds every match. These skills can be offensive, defensive, or supportive, and their synergy is essential for dominating encounters. Between matches, players can customize their builds and unlock new skills, classes, and modifiers that shape the overall playstyle.

The progression system is fast and rewarding, encouraging both experimentation and strategic thinking. In addition to its main battle royale mode, Skillshot City also offers support for alternative game modes — such as deathmatch, checkpoint, and co-op horde battles — and includes full bot support, making it accessible even without an active player base. Another standout feature is the “second chance” mechanic: eliminated players return as undead and can rejoin the match by taking down a living opponent.

About the game

Skillshot City is a turbo-fast battle royale with roguelite superpowers. Fight through a GTA2-style city to level up fast and create godlike skill synergies. If you die mid-match you can loot for next round, or hunt down a survivor to revive! No downtime, just non-stop action.

A roguelike battle royale

Fight for skill points to level up fast. Each level up gives you a choice of 2 randomly generated skills. Do you take Invisibility or Bouncing Bullets? Teleportation or Regeneration?

Like a roguelite this makes every match plays different. You need to think on your feet to combo skills together and create the most broken build possible before the final showdown!

Unlock new abilities between matches. There are over 100 unique skills, classes, and round modifers to unlock. Once unlocked you can equip skills to your build to make them appear more often in-game. Join the community to theorycraft thousands of possible skill combos!

GTA-inspired mayhem

Inspired by MOBAs, the faster you farm the stronger you become. You can do missions, win supply drops, fight gangs, explore for rare loot, and if you’re feeling risky – aggro the cops.

But remember, the circle is shrinking and death will set you back a lot. You have to balance risk with reward to level up as much as possible while still surviving to the final showdown.

Turbo fast rounds

While other BRs have one long round, Skillshot City has 3 ultra-fast rounds – with a high-stakes showdown every 5 minutes. The winners of rounds 1 and 2 get to choose unique modifiers that affect the rest of the match, and the winner of round 3 wins the game!

Your skill build progresses from round to round, and if you die you can keep playing too. You’ll play as a zombie and can loot for the next round – or hunt down a survivor to revive. No queueing time, no getting booted to the main menu, just pure refined non-stop action.
