Scuba Dive [Windows]

Scuba Dive is a free 2024 PC remake of the 1983 ZX Spectrum classic by Mike Richardson, developed as a fan project by Space-Time Games in collaboration with Sunteam. Originally released during the early days of the Spectrum, Scuba Dive stood out for its unusual mix of side-scrolling action, vertical exploration, and constant tension driven by limited oxygen and dangerous sea creatures.

In the game, players control a diver who leaves a boat at the surface and descends into the ocean depths in search of pearls and hidden treasures. Clams must be timed carefully before collecting their pearls, which increase in value the deeper they are found. As the dive progresses, visibility drops, spaces become tighter, and underwater caves appear, guarded by hostile fish, jellyfish, and octopuses. Once enough loot is gathered, returning safely to the boat is essential to secure the score.

This PC remake stays faithful to the original gameplay while enhancing it with smoother controls, faster pacing, and updated visuals, including modernized depth and oxygen indicators. The classic mode offers multiple difficulty levels, and a new Free Dive mode removes death and scoring entirely, allowing players to explore a brand-new map and unlock underwater discoveries at a relaxed pace.

Completely free to download for Windows, Scuba Dive is a respectful and enjoyable revival of one of the ZX Spectrum’s most distinctive titles, offering both nostalgic challenge and a calm exploratory alternative for players who simply want to dive in and explore.

About the game

Scuba Dive is an all-time classic in the vast library of ZX Spectrum games.
An early title, originally released in 1983, it has stood the test of time and remains one of the most unique and compelling games of the era.

Scuba Dive sets the player as a diver who has to navigate a labyrinth of underwater caves to obtain pearls and treasure from the clams and chests that lie on the sea floor.

This remake contains the original game mode with multiple skill levels, as well as an all-new ‘Free Dive’ mode where you explore a brand new map, trying to unlock a series of underwater discoveries. There is no death is this mode, so it’s great for those who just like to relax and explore.
