With its wide selection of selectable fighters, fun co-op mode, and classic beat ‘em up gameplay, it’s a great homage to the golden age of TMNT games. Merso X has done an incredible job recreating the feel of the old NES games while introducing new mechanics and visuals that bring the franchise into the modern era.

Story overview
The story follows the Turtles as they attempt to rescue their kidnapped friends and allies. Shredder, celebrating 30 years of his rivalry with the turtles, has abducted nearly every character in their universe. Classic beat ‘em up action
The gameplay in Rescue-Palooza! is heavily inspired by the old-school NES titles, specifically Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: The Manhattan Project. Like in these classics, players control one of the turtles—or other unlockable characters—and fight through side-scrolling stages filled with enemies. However, Rescue-Palooza! adds its own unique touches, such as rideable vehicles, updated graphics, and voice lines directly from the original cartoon.
Diverse character rooster
One of the game’s standout features is its roster of 60 characters, featuring a mix of fan-favorites from the TMNT universe. You’ll start with the four main turtles — Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael and Michelangelo — but as you progress, you’ll unlock familiar faces like April O’Neil, Casey Jones, Splinter, and even villains like Bebop, Rocksteady, and Shredder. Some surprising additions include Usagi Yojimbo, the rabbit samurai from the TMNT crossovers in the comics, and other lesser-known characters from the toyline and live-action movies.

Rescue-Palooza! also offers a 4-player local co-op mode, allowing friends to join in and tackle Shredder’s minions together.
