DINO CRISIS 2: Remake

Relive the PS1 classic with a remake that brings back dinos and nostalgia, now with revamped visuals and a new perspective.

DINO CRISIS 2: Remake brings back the popular dinosaur franchise with new enemies, a fresh perspective, and updated graphics!

Independent developer Stefano Cagnani has released a free demo of his Dino Crisis 2 remake made with Unreal Engine 5. Released in May 2025, the project is unofficial but demonstrates how much the community still values the franchise — and it’s also free!

This is another solo effort from Cagnani, not meant to compete with a professional release. Even so, it delivers about an hour of gameplay, featuring updated environments, better resolution, and, of course, dinosaurs back in action. Unlike the original game, which used fixed camera angles, DINO CRISIS 2: Remake adopts a third-person, over-the-shoulder perspective. The approach works well and modernizes the experience.

During the demo, players can explore environments, solve simple puzzles, collect cards, and face off against dinosaurs. The combat and controls still have limitations — the animations aren’t very polished, and Regina’s model might look off at times — but the game is fully playable and provides a solid idea of what an official remake could be like.

Requirements and performance

Due to the visual simplicity and independent development, the demo does not require a high-end PC to run smoothly. Even without advanced optimizations, performance is acceptable on most mid-range hardware.
