Gameplay

Cat Quest is an action RPG played from a top-down perspective in an open-world 2D kingdom called Felingard, where exploration is central to the gameplay structure, blending discovery with mission completion. Players control an anthropomorphic cat on a mission to rescue their kidnapped sister. The game features real-time combat, dungeon tracking, and equipment progression.

Players take on a series of typically short missions that reward XP, which helps to level up the character’s stats. Many missions are categorized as “fetch” or “kill all monsters,” but the variety of characters and stories prevents repetition. Main and side missions provide enough XP for progression, with grinding becoming necessary after level 70 to collect achievements and extra items. The world of Felingard contains over 50 dungeons, more than 60 missions, and plenty of secrets, making exploration rewarding.

Cat Quest‘s combat system combines simple yet tactical mechanics involving attacks, dodges, and powerful spells to face enemies with distinct attack patterns. These enemies leave red marks on the ground, indicating where the attacks will land, and timing your dodges or attacks within those patterns is crucial to victory. Players must learn to exploit enemy attack patterns, positioning themselves for ideal moments to strike. The simplicity of the mechanics is balanced by the tactical approach, where precise use of each skill can make the difference between life and death in battle.
