Totally Reliable Delivery Service is an indie party game that simulates a delivery service, combining ragdoll physics, cartoon-style graphics, and a good dose of humor. It was developed by We’re Five Games (nowadays owned by tinyBuild) and initially released on April 1, 2020.

The game promises an interactive experience for up to five players simultaneously, who must make deliveries in a random and interactive sandbox world. Tasks essentially involve receiving packages from delivery machines and transporting them—either on foot or by vehicle—to their destination, with performance measured by delivery time or package condition.

Originally published by tinyBuild (2020–2024) and currently by Infogrames (currently Atari’s) —with versions for Android, iOS, macOS, Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S—Totally Reliable Delivery Service has received mixed reviews from critics. At the time of this publication’s latest update, the game holds thousands of “very positive” reviews on Steam, while on the Epic Games Store it is rated 4/5.

Gameplay

Totally Reliable Delivery Service is a cooperative delivery game for 1 to 5 players in which the goal is to transport packages from a starting location to highlighted areas on the map, using various means—on foot, in different vehicles, and, in specific situations, with structures such as trampolines and rocket ships. The core challenge comes from the extensive use of ragdoll physics for characters and the limitations on object handling (for example, a player can only hold one item per hand), which makes movement and steering deliberately chaotic. There are no enemies, and the main risks involve damaging packages (which may explode) and falling into water; aside from that, there is no “death” penalty, as the character respawns near the active task location.

Deliveries are divided into two types of objectives: timed tasks, which award gold, silver, or bronze medals, and tasks based on package condition, whose integrity decreases upon impact, determining the medal earned. In-game currency rewards vary by tier, with exponential progression. Money is used to unlock delivery stations in each region—managed by an NPC described as a “wizard”—to free vehicles stored in crates, and to enable customization options for characters and vehicles. Regions in the game world can be tackled in any order once unlocked, and there is a fast travel option to quickly return to active areas.

Character control includes walking, running, jumping, and operating the left and right hands independently to grab surfaces, levers, packages, and vehicle controls. Vehicle handling is heavily affected by physics and the weight of transported items or passengers hanging on. Notable examples include helicopters with independent controls for the main rotor and tail rotor, without stabilization systems or strict rotation limits, requiring learning and manual compensation. Vehicles and certain packages can explode after taking excessive damage.

In addition to deliveries, each area offers collectibles: floating rings (which require passing through them by jumping or using a vehicle) and blue teddy bears that are destroyed when grabbed, granting small cash rewards. According to the analyzed transcript, in online co-op, players who are not the host may sometimes be unable to see one of the collectible types. The base game includes 100 deliveries without additional content, with extra areas available through DLC or add-ons.
