This shoot ’em up draws direct inspiration from Asteroids, especially in its controls, but modernizes and energizes the original concept, offering a more chaotic and fast-paced experience. The game features simple, stylized graphics and aims to promote a chill, relaxing atmosphere.
Self-published by GrahamOfLegend and available for Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, Super Space Club received mixed reviews from critics. On Steam, however, it currently boasts dozens of positive user ratings — at least at the time of this writing.

Gameplay
Super Space Club is an arcade-style shooter that pays homage to Asteroids, Atari’s 1979 classic, while introducing several modern updates that set it apart from the original. In the game, players take control of space pilots on dangerous missions through asteroid fields, facing waves of enemies while collecting a rare resource called Stardust.
Unlike the game that inspired it, asteroids in Super Space Club do not damage the player. On the contrary, they can be used as cover from enemy fire or even turned into projectiles by pushing them into enemy ships. Movement is free and fully 360°, with mechanics that emphasize fast-paced action and precise control, allowing for daring maneuvers across the battlefield.
A notable feature is the connection between weapons and shields: each shot temporarily drains part of the player’s shield energy, encouraging strategic play and discouraging excessive button mashing. However, using boost to move around the screen does not consume shield energy, ensuring constant mobility even when vulnerable.
Before each run, players can choose from different pilots, ships, and weapons, each with unique stats and abilities. The game begins with basic options, but new content can be unlocked by collecting Stardust during gameplay. Each of the three categories offers five options in total, allowing for multiple tactical combinations.
Gameplay follows a roguelite structure, with varied objectives such as eliminating a certain number of enemies, surviving a set number of waves, or using specific characters or weapons. These missions act as additional incentives and help mitigate repetition, although the game may become predictable due to a lack of enemy variety and fixed wave patterns.
Despite its simple appearance, Super Space Club delivers frantic battles, customization elements, and a progression system that can potentially keep players engaged through extended play sessions.
About the game
Super Space Club is a colorful endless arcade gunner set to the backdrop of chill, lo-fi music. As a club of skilled misfit pilots, defend the galaxy by taking on galactic forces and completing a series of thrilling missions. In space, everyone can hear you groove.
Sling fireworks with the explosive Olly, or dish out ship-seeking shots with the stealthy Roscoe? With a variety of pilots, ships, and weapons at your disposal, choose the perfect build and soar across the stars through physics-based thrusting. As you’re taking down enemies and completing objectives, be wary of your ship’s energy. Depleting energy could leave you vulnerable to devastating damage. Don’t get too comfortable after coming out on top, as the next wave is always right around the corner.
Despite the challenge that gameplay may bring, space can be quite dope. Missouri-based audio duo Fat Bard provides the backdrop of lo-fi beats and chill-hop tunes featuring vocal artists from around the globe. Paired with a vibrant and colorful cool-toned aesthetic, Super Space Club delivers a relaxing yet challenging arcade experience unlike any other.
