Sifu is an indie third-person beat ’em up fighting game set in China, where you play as the son of a martial arts master who seeks revenge against those responsible for his father’s death. It was developed by Sloclap and initially released on February 8, 2022.
Every time the protagonist dies in this game, he is resurrected by a magical talisman and ages, gaining access to more powerful attacks, but reducing his health. When he becomes too old, he can die permanently, and must then restart the level from the beginning and at the same age as his initial attempt.
Published by Sloclap and Kepler Interactive and available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, Sifu was generally well received by critics and was a market success. The game is also very positively rated on digital platforms for PC, at least as of this publication.
