The surreal and alien point-and-click adventure Samorost 3 is currently free, for Windows, 100% free to keep, in a limited-time Epic Store’s giveaway offer! Don’t miss out, as Samorost 3 normally sells for $19.99.
Samorost 3 is a casual, indie point-and-click adventure following a curious space gnome who discovers a magical flute falling from the sky. The flute allows him to hear mystical sounds, travel through the cosmos and play notes that help him understand the worlds around him. Developed by Amanita Design, the game was initially released on March 24, 2016.
As its title might suggest, this is the second sequel in the Samorost series, following Samorost 2 (2005) and maintaining the series’ essence: a focus on exploration and interaction with the environment to solve puzzles with varied mechanics, including minigames, set in surreal—and, depending on your taste, fascinating—worlds.
Published by Amanita Design and with versions for Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, and Windows Apps, Samorost 3 was generally well-received by critics, earning several nominations and some awards, and by the market. It also holds very positive user reviews on platforms such as Steam and GOG, at least at the time of this publication.

Gameplay
In Samorost 3, players take on the role of a curious space gnome who discovers a magical flute that has fallen from the sky — an instrument that guides him on a journey through the cosmos, specifically across five planets and four moons, in search of its mysterious origins. Unlike the first two entries in the series, which were short browser-based adventures, Samorost 3 offers a full-length experience in high definition, comprising nine alien worlds filled with creatures, mysteries, and environmental challenges.
The game follows the traditional Amanita Design point-and-click adventure style, with no conventional dialogue; all communication occurs through animated thought bubbles and unintelligible sounds, reinforcing its dreamlike and universal appeal. Interaction is performed with simple clicks on elements in the environment, which the protagonist uses to solve puzzles, collect items, and communicate with the various life forms encountered along the way.
The magical flute is a core gameplay mechanic, used in multiple moments to solve musical puzzles or activate hidden mechanisms, perfectly synchronized with the game’s soundtrack and sound design. Many puzzles require careful observation of the environment and experimentation with different combinations and rhythms of notes, showcasing Amanita’s meticulous integration of sound and visuals into the game’s logic.
Each puzzle has a unique approach — from strange mechanisms and melodic creatures to card-based minigames that tell small visual stories — keeping the experience fresh and surprising. If the player gets stuck, an interactive help system is available: a minigame that unlocks a hand-drawn illustrated guide with hints for the current puzzle, without relying on text or speech.
In short, Samorost 3 is more than a simple collection of genre-typical challenges. It offers a sensory and contemplative exploration, where the focus is as much on discovering the solution as on getting lost in the details of its surreal environments.
