Grelox is a retro game that combines action, side-scrolling platforming, metroidvania, science fiction and inspiration from Zillion, a beloved 80s anime that gained games on the Master System console.
Created in Game Maker and published for Windows by Sunteam in 2019, Grelox is a game where you explore a planet in search of a crime lady who has been digging around the place in search of something dangerous and very old. The game is independent and free and features pleasant pixel art graphics that are reminiscent of 8-bit or 16-bit console titles.
In Grelox, the player chooses between two initial levels with platforming challenges, alien or robotic enemies and puzzles. Each room has locked doors that are opened by hacking security terminals, pressing “Up” and waiting. Progress is maintained by hacking all terminals in the room, unless the player leaves without completing the hack. The goal is to collect red and blue cards to access the main terminal and finish the level. The game offers three difficulty levels, with no limited lives, allowing infinite attempts.
