About Albion Online
For those unfamiliar, Albion Online is a free-to-play MMORPG set in a medieval fantasy world developed by Sandbox Interactive — a company that’s been part of the Stillfront Group since January 2021. Drawing inspiration from Arthurian legends, the game blends military strategy with a vast, open-world sandbox experience built around player interaction. It’s available in 11 languages and has over 5 million registered users across three servers.
Unlike many traditional MMORPGs, Albion Online uses a classless system, where your character’s abilities and playstyle are defined entirely by the equipment they wear. As players take on activities throughout the game world, they earn Fame — the game’s version of experience — which is used to level up specific proficiencies, such as mastery with a certain weapon type or armor category. The more proficient your character becomes, the more advanced gear they can use.
Items in Albion Online come in eight tiers, ranging from Beginner to Elder. They can also be enchanted, increasing their Item Power (IP). IP also scales with weapon specialization — known as “spec” — which is leveled up through Fame.
The game features a large open-world map with various PvP zones offering different levels of risk and reward: Yellow, Red, and Black Zones. In Red and Black zones, dying results in full loot — meaning you drop all your equipped gear — raising the stakes considerably for PvP encounters.
Albion Online’s economy is entirely player-driven. All gear, resources, potions, and even buildings are crafted and traded by players through a detailed crafting and market system.
Socially, players can join guilds — created by other users for a fee — with up to 300 members. Guilds fight over territories, castles, and other strategic objectives in large-scale battles known as ZvZ (Zerg vs Zerg). Guilds can also form alliances, adding another layer to the game’s warfare and diplomacy mechanics.
